Henry Cowell

Henry Cowell, 1897-1965, pioneering and influential American modern composer, Cowell created the music for Here at the Waters’ Edge, 1961. Educated at home in his childhood, Cowell became one of the leaders of a group of 20th Century composers that included, Charles Ives, Carl Ruggles, and Edgar Varese. Virgil Thomson wrote, “No other composer of our time has produced a body of works so radical and so normal, so penetrating and so comprehensive”
